Rice-Sowing Campaign Completes in Lebap
OREANDA-NEWS. July 6, 2009. Rice-growers in the Amu Darya Valley completed the 2009 rice sowing campaign. In Lebap the rice plantations occupy 10,052 hectares.
In Lebap rice is grown by eight farmers associations of the Sayat Etrap research-and- production centre, 12 farmers associations in Serdarabat Etrap and 9 associations in Karabekaul Etrap. This year rice-growers in the northern region of the country are planning to produce 39,000 tones of ‘pearl grain’.
High-powered John Deer, Case and MTZ-1221 tillage tractors provided by subdivisions of Turkmenobahyzmat Association allow accelerating the pace of agricultural works. The favourable conditions were created for rice-growers who work round-the-clock.
Upon completing the sowing campaign farmers have launched the agrotechnical works according to schedule and specialists’ recommendations including application of mineral fertilizers.
