Kazakh-Israeli Business Forum Held
OREANDA-NEWS. July 03, 2009. Within a short time Kazakhstan and Israel could ensure significant results in various realms of cooperation, announced Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Karim Massimov following a Kazakh-Israeli business forum he attended along with Israeli President Shimon Peres, reported the Official website government.kz.
“Today we have reached agreements in various realms. Both sides have their own competitive edge which could be taken advantage of when implementing these agreements. We focused on realms where we could unleash the potential very fast”, stressed the Head of the Kazakh Government.
“The Government along with private business has been commissioned by the President to work out a new program of industrial development. Israel can offer advanced agricultural technology. And agriculture is among our top priorities. Now we can ensure significant results in this realm within a short time”, said K. Massimov.
“Besides, Israel possesses advanced medical and pharmaceutical technology. Under the Government we have established a special committee to develop the national pharmaceuticals sector. Some other realms, including space technology, scientific researches are also perfect spheres for cooperation”, the Kazakh PM said.
In his turn, Shimon Peres noted that Israel is interested in establishing R&D JVs. And the Government and the public sector could be cooperating within such projects. “We have coordinated three levels of cooperation: this would be cooperation with the Government, with representatives of the private sector and a combination of the public-private partnership”, Shimon Peres said.
The business forum mainly focused on trade-and-economic cooperation of the two nations, business contacts, possible JVs and investment projects. The Israeli side was most of all interested in participating in agricultural, IT, military, environment, and medical projects in Kazakhstan.
