OREANDA-NEWS. On 02 July 2009 was announced, that the number of broadband access subscribers to Webstream exceeded 500,000 thousand people. During the whole week, Sibirtelecom arranged free-of-charge connection of socially significant institutions to Internet in all regions of the Siberian Federal District within the “Half-A-Million Friends” action.

“Sibirtelecom realizes its role as a large-scale business representative when taking part in socially significant processes”, - said Mr. Ivan Dadykin, General Director of Sibirtelecom, - and, taking into account the fact of connecting the jubilee subscriber to Webstream service, we handed over certificates for unlimited Internet connection of social institutions to all regional administrations of Siberia.

During the forthcoming week the Company plans to connect to high-speed Internet libraries, children’s art centers, artistic colleges, medical and health establishments, children’s funds and other institutions, who obtained certificates at discretion of government bodies. Alongside with connection and installation of the required equipment these institutions will get free of charge unlimited access to the net at the speed 512 Kbit/sec.
