OREANDA-NEWS. June 30, 2009. Galymzhan Koishybayev newly appointed (in January of this year) ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan and his delegation visited the Port of Klaipeda. Objective of the visit – to learn about Klaipeda port activities and business possibilities, reported the press-centre of Port of Klaipeda.
 
The Director General Eugenijus Gentvilas and Head of the Representative Office in the Republic of Belarus Arturas Gaidauskas met the guests at the Seaport Authority (J. Janonio str. 24) and introduced them to Klaipeda Port activities, reviewed economic indicators of the port performance, presented the ongoing projects of the port development, potential and capacities of the port, and discussed the performance, specifics and logistic issues of the cargo handling companies operating in the port.
 
Having visited the Seaport Authority, the members of the delegation were taken on an excursion around the port waters by ship in order to enjoy panoramic sights of the port waters, to see existing infrastructure and supra-structure of the port as well as to learn about the plans of the Seaport Authority regarding  improvement of infrastructure and the  port development prospects.
 
After the visit in the port, the delegation also visited Klaipeda city municipality (Liepu str. 11) and Klaipeda Free economic zone (Pramones str. 8).

2006 – 600,6 thousand tons;
2007 – 683,6 thousand tons (growth  by 13,8 %);
2008 – 728,3 thousand tons (growth by 6,5 %).
