OREANDA-NEWS. June 26, 2009. The Mission of the European Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), headed by Catriona Purfield, finished its work in Lithuania. The mission started its work on 11 June, reported the press-centre of Bank of Lithuania.

The members of the IMF mission analysed macroeconomic and financial stability of Lithuania, assessed economic development forecasts and the implementation of economic policy measures. The meetings with the representatives of the Bank of Lithuania, the Ministry of Finance and other public institutions and the private sector were organised.

According to Article IV of the IMF’s Articles of Association, such economic consultations are conducted with all IMF members.

Lithuania is a member of the International Monetary Fund from 1992. Currently, 185 countries are members of the IMF.
