OREANDA-NEWS. On 25 June 2009 two public procurement tenders were announced in the project for Polish and Lithuanian interconnection: first - consultancy services for preparation of territorial planning and environmental impact assessment (EIA) procedures and documents for the 400 kV overhead power transmission line between Alytus substation – border of the Republic of Poland, second - consultancy services for feasibility study, technical documentation and territorial planning for reconstruction and extension of the Alytus substation with a back-to-back converter station.

The contract winners will to draft a special plan for Lithuania’s first 400 kV power transmission line and EIA on Lithuanian territory (from the prospective Alytus substation to state border with Poland). The EIA study of new OH line from Alytus TS to Polish border will not be limited to the power line but also it will include the reconstruction of Alytus substation and its expansion by construction of back-to-back converter station.

The second tender is announced for a feasibility study, technical documentation and territorial planning documents regarding construction of a back-to-back converter station in Alytus and reconstruction of Alytus substation. The winner of this tender will draft a feasibility study regarding Alytus back-to-back converter station and expansion and modernization of the existing TS. The contractor will propose technologies, prepare technical data for procurement documents and perform all necessary works, related to the preparation for design, metering, territorial planning, etc.

“The tenders are performed in compliance with rules of European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, which administers the Ignalina International Decommissioning Support Fund”, - said Mr. Jaroslav Neverovic, Chairman of the Management Board of LitPol Link, in charge of the Lithuanian-Polish interconnection project’s preparatory works.

According to Mr. J. Neverovic, these tenders are open market to players from EU member states, Norway, Switzerland and other countries, which have a branch of EBRD. “We anticipate active participation of competent Lithuanian companies not only in the tender for the preparation of a special plan, but also for the feasibility study on reconstruction of Alytus transformer substation and its expansion by constructing a back-to-back converter station. This is going to be a unique device, interconnecting Lithuanian power system with electricity transmission grid of Western Europe – pointed out the chairman of LitPol Link Management Board.

The deadline for submission of bids regarding the consultancy services for preparation of territorial planning and environmental impact assessment procedures and documents for the power transmission line between Alytus substation – border of the Republic of Poland – July 1, 2009, for consultancy services for feasibility study, technical documentation and territorial planning for reconstruction and extension of the Alytus substation with a back-to-back converter station – July 2, 2009.
