OREANDA-NEWS. On 24 June 2009 Mobile TeleSystems OJSC (“MTS” – NYSE: MBT), the largest mobile phone operator in Russia and the CIS, announced that it has won the 2009 Global Telecoms Business Innovation Award in the “Services catalogue innovation” category for the MTS Catalogue service.

MTS Catalogue is a unique service developed jointly with the Paragon Software Group. The service was launched in early 2009 to provide subscribers with the most essential software and services that include dictionaries, FOREX rates, weather forecasts, newsfeeds, antivirus solutions and email tools. All these services are provided free of charge with subscribers only having to pay for the GPRS traffic.

MTS received the award in London on June 16, 2009. Global Telecoms Business Innovation Awards are given in recognition of the most innovative projects and initiatives undertaken by companies in the telecommunications industry.
