Moldovan Premier Participates in CIS Bank Conference
OREANDA-NEWS. June 22, 2009. Over 140 delegations from eight countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) considered the possibility of enhancing the role of national currencies in CIS export/import operations during a bank conference held in Chisinau. The officials also discussed possible solutions to improve the system of payment and financial transfers in the region, reported the Official website gov.md.
Opening the conference, Prime Minister Zinaida Grecianii pointed out the importance of the theme for both enterprises and corporative businesses as well as for a large number of citizens using bank services in the CIS area.
The prime minister underlined the need to optimize cooperation in this respect between CIS economic agents, which is becoming increasingly up-to-date now because of the the world financial and economic crisis.
Enhancing the degree of involvement of the CIS national currencies within export/import operations is able to secure a high-level integration in the bank sector and consequently the integration of the CIS economic systems, Greciani said, adding that this is a priority on the agenda of Moldova's CIS chairmanship.
Greciani welcomed the participation in the conference of representatives of the most important CIS financial institutions and voiced hope that the decisions approved during the conference will create favourable conditions for the socioeconomic development of the CIS countries.
