OREANDA-NEWS. On 19 June 2009 was announced, that the Moscow City Government had abandoned plans to expand Preobrazhensky Val and Izmaylovsky Val streets within the development of the Northern belt road.

According to the prefecture of Moscow’s eastern administrative district, earlier its section was planned to go through these streets due to what they were to be expanded.

Now the city authorities have approved an amended plan aimed at developing the Northern belt road that provides for placing this section into a deep tunnel.

One end of the tunnel will be on Budyonnogo Avenue, another – near Rostokinsky Proezd. Its length will be more than 4 kilometres and it will be dug to a depth of roughly 40 metres.

Construction of the tunnel is expected to be started in three years.
