OREANDA-NEWS. On 19 June 2009 was announced, that children are the favorite passengers and always wanted guests at Moscow International Airport Domodedovo. A regular excursion program for children, giving them a unique opportunity to dip into the dynamic and interesting life of the main gateway of the country, was launched in January 2008.

After visiting the airport not only do children find out a lot of new things about how it works and go through a whole new experience, but also start dreaming about working in the aviation industry. This time guests of the airport were youngsters that are soon to choose their future profession - 10th grade pupils of school #108 and children fostered by the "Family" charity fund.

The excursion started with visiting the Aviation Training Center of Domodedovo airport. The ATC is the only facility of its kind in Russia where aviation safety and security specialists are trained. Here the children were able to feel themselves in a real passenger terminal: the main areas of the passenger terminal through to the boarding area are recreated inside the training center. The youngsters found out what items are not allowed in luggage and aboard a plane and got acquainted with the rules of an international airport. After that they went aboard the aircraft where specialists of the airport are trained. The children were able to examine the pilots’ cabin, sit on the captain’s place and hold the flywheel. The next stop was the laser shooting gallery where they were able to shoot at targets. Barely being able to leave such an interesting place, the youngsters proceeded on to the Domodedovo Aircraft Maintenance Base.

On their way they were able to see aircraft take-off and landing and watch the process of aircraft ground handling on the apron.

When the children arrived they were able to see aircraft at close range, specialists of the Domodedovo Aircraft Maintenance Base showed them what the many switches are needed for.

Such events allow the children to take a broader look at life and choose a future profession. The children loved the excursion itself and were moved by the warm greeting of the airport staff. Each specialist spoke of his profession with passion, which made a huge impression on the children".
