OREANDA-NEWS. On 19 June 2009 was announced, that Ingosstrakh paid the first tranche to settle losses of GROUPE EUROTUNNEL SA caused by the fire in the tunnel under the English Channel. 

The train carrying trucks en route from England to France went on fire on September 11, 2008, eleven kilometers away form the destination point. The largest part of the train and all the trucks it carried were destroyed in fire, and one of the sections of the tunnel was seriously damaged. The reconstruction was completed and the traffic resumed by February 10, 2009.

Pursuant to the surveyor’s opinion, total loss of  GROUPE EUROTUNNEL SA amounted to EUR 247ml. Total amount of insurance compensation was limited to EUR 200ml. The loss to be covered by Ingosstrakh totalled EUR 356k.
