Turkmenistan Creates Modern Road Transport Infrastructure
OREANDA-NEWS. June 16, 2009. Creation of modern road transport infrastructure as an essential factor of intensive development of recreation and tourism industries is a priority of Turkmenistan’s national policy. The grand architectural premiere – the opening of the first fashionable hotels in the Avaza national tourism zone being created on the picturesque shores of the Caspian Sea will take place on June 15. This project of unprecedented concept and scale is initiated by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The concept of the world-class seaside resort – the status initially gained by Avaza provides for construction of transport, communication and engineering infrastructure. In a word, like other world-class resorts all over the world Avaza will have comfortable hotels and health-improving centres and convenient road network that will give maximum comfort to holiday makers.
The new highway will link the first free tourism zone in the country with its air gateways – the airport in Turkmenbashi town. Four roads are being laid in Avaza by the subdivisions of the Balkan road operations department of Turkmenawtoyollary State Concern. The construction works are carried on in accordance with the relevant resolutions of the President of Turkmenistan.
The new highways meet the international standards. In particular, the width of carriageway will vary from 9 to 12.25 metres. The road infrastructure includes the broad centre malls, sidewalks and bosquets, traffic signs, pedestrian crossings, lighting, etc.
The total length of five roads is about 35 kilometres. The 6-km highway which runs the border of the tourism zone to the first facilities will be put into operation in a few days. The highway connecting Avaza and the airport in Turkmenbashi and other roads will be put into operation this October.
To provide road builders and specialists with construction materials and accelerate the pace of construction in the Balkan velayat Amman module coating plant with the capacity 160 tons per hour and Kleemann plant for crushing stone (Germany) were put into operation. More than 100 specialized vehicles – dump trucks, excavators, rollers, graders, loaders are engaged in construction.
