OREANDA-NEWS. On 16 June 2009 was announced, that the number of subscribers to DOMOLINK, CenterTelecom's broadband Internet access service, reached more than 820,000 people in May 2009. The installed capacity for the company’s broadband access exceeds 1 million data ports.

Since 2006 CenterTelecom has actively promoted its new telecommunications services in 17 regions where the company operates. The DOMOLINK brand is well known to the population of Central Russia. By deploying the latest technical solutions and flexible tariff plans CenterTelecom anticipates continuing expansion of its subscriber base. Thus for the first four months of 2009 the growth in new subscribers was 16%.

Provision of non-regulated telecommunications services is one of CenterTelecom’s priorities. Vaagn Martirosyan, General Director, CenterTelecom, said that increases in the number of new service users are very important for the company. He added: “Internet access service is the most popular service now. That is why we are doing our best to develop this sector. However CenterTelecom always tries not only to focus on current demand but also to foresee future subscriber needs. This is the recipe for the company’s success.”

CenterTelecom is continuing improvements to its network telecommunications infrastructure in the Central Federal District of Russia. Currently ADSL 2+ is the basic technological solution in the Internet access segment.  According to company estimates, by late 2009 the installed capacity of the company’s broadband xDSL access will exceed 1,252,000 data ports, with an expected 80% active usage.

Since early 2009 the company has provided broadband access to the Internet not only through xDSL but also through FTTB (Fiber to the Building) technology. Currently the number of households using this technology exceeds 3,000. According to CenterTelecom’s estimates, by 2013, Internet access based on FTTB technology will be used by 76% of its subscribers. Implementation of the planned technical development programs will allow the company not only to secure a high rate of growth in the number of users of new telecommunications services but also will let the company provide the most advanced services to its customers.
