OREANDA-NEWS. On 16 June 2009 was announced, that from January 1 till May 31, 2009, Ingosstrakh IJSC paid damages to its clients under maritime risks insurance to the total amount of RUB 393.1 ml. 

RUB 187.8 ml was paid under vessel hull insurance. RUB 205.3 ml was paid under liability insurance. 

In particular, Ingosstrakh paid over USD 843.5k for the repairs of the engine of  “St. Stephan"and over USD 353k for the repairs of  the steering gear of the Ustuzhna boat.

Among other large payments, there is also an insurance compensation paid for the collision of two yachts in France.  "Synergy" was insured by Ingosstrakh under the hull insurance policy, which included third party liability. It seriously damaged the other yacht when they collided. Ingosstrakh has a large network of surveyors and professional lawyers around the world, and it immediately appointed competent lawyers in France who supported the owner in the dispute.    Ingosstrakh provided its guarantee, thanks to which Synergy wasn't arrested and could continue its voyage. The initial damage was assessed to the amount of over EUR 2 ml. However, thanks to the professionalism of the lawyers and employees of Ingosstrakh, the amount of the claim for  damages to property of third parties was cut to EUR 460 and paid to the claimant. 

Besides, to protect the interests of the vessel owners (to release the vessels from arrest), over five months of 2009, guarantees were issued to the total amount of RUB  103.7 ml.

This year Ingosstrakh has not only continued to settle insured events, but attracted new insured persons, and collected increasingly more premium for maritime insurance. In the reported period, Ingosstrakh collected 10.5% (Rub 101.1 ml)more premium  than in the same period last year.
