OREANDA-NEWS. On 10 June 2009 was announced, that this is the fourth year that SCM had supported this celebration of all things European. By doing this SCM makes its contribution to better Ukraine's integration in the European community.

Europe Day in Ukraine is celebrated with a support of European Commission and with participation of EU countries. The format of Europe Day celebrations is a European Village organized in several major cities of Ukraine. This year, in order to improve the level of awareness of the Ukrainian population on the structure and functions of EU, European Commission made the decision to get focused on the country's region: thus, Ternopol (May 23) and Krivoy Rog (May 30) were selected as the places for the European Day celebrations.

Within the framework of Europe Day celebrations in Ternopoil and Krivoy Rog European villages "opened" European language schools, public discussion tents, square of European music and art and a food corner featuring European cuisine. Representatives of each country gave out to all visitors of the "Village" information materials dedicated to geography, history, culture and music of their country and organized different games and quizzes. The participants of the festive concerts dedicated to Europe Day included leading Ukrainian and European singers - RUSLANA, Sky, InCulto (Lithuania) and others.

In his comments on the support provided by SCM Jock Mendoza-Wilson, Director of International and Investor Relations, stated: "SCM is happy to support the Europe Day celebrations in Ukraine. We believe that this holiday helps the Ukrainians better understand Europe, its culture and traditions and, thus, to make one more step ahead towards Ukraine's integration in the European economic and cultural community. We are happy that we can make our contribution in establishment of closer relations between Ukraine and EU as such relations are of great importance for the future economic development of Ukraine and improvement of the living standards.
