OREANDA-NEWS. On 11 June was announced, that Ukrainian Government took a decision on capitalization of Ukrgazbank, Rodovid Bank and Bank Kyiv. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko announced to a media conference today.

Yulia Tymoshenko informed pursuant to the Government’s decision UAH 3 billion 200 million will be transferred to the statutory capital of Ukrgazbank so the share of the state in its statutory capital will amount 81.57%; UAH 2 billion 809 million – to the statutory capital of Rodovid Bank (state’s share – 99.97%); UAH 3 billion 563 million – to the statutory capital of Bank Kyiv (state’s share – 99.93%).

“These three banks have obtained a sufficient capital from the Government to resume its activity and fulfill liabilities to the clients, in particular in paying off the deposits,” Yulia Tymoshenko underlined and added clientele of these banks list 730 thousand of citizens.

At this, Yulia Tymoshenko said without assistance rendered by the country the mentioned financial institutions wouldn’t have chance to resume operation. “Such support is not a characteristic function for the Government. To maintain solvency of banks is a function of bank owners while the NBU has to control the banking system and render support. Consequently, everything done by the Government is not its duty, it is a good will of the Government to help clients of these banks to receive their own resources,” Yulia Tymoshenko clarified the situation.

According to Yulia Tymoshenko, funds for recapitalization of the banks will be allocated from the State Budget of Ukraine. The Premier also aired new administration of the banks whose candidatures are being considered by the Finance Ministry can start work the following week already.

Thereupon, Yulia Tymoshenko explained such banks as Nadra and Ukrprombank are in rather complicated state nowadays. The Head of Government added “whether a special Government program to be elaborated for these banks it depends on how successful will be the talks of the Government with creditors and whether the creditors will agree to restructure debts of these banks”.
