Mr. Gilev graduated with honors from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (State University), Management and Applied Mathematics Department, majoring in applied mathematics and physics, later on the Finance Academy under the Government of the Russian Federation, majoring in financial management.

In 1996-2008 he worked at RAO Norilsk Nickel (renamed into Open Joint Stock Company Mining and Metallurgical Company Norilsk Nickel in 2001), where he rose from Principal Specialist of the Auditing Department covering debt management operations to Head of Insurance and Project Financing Department. Prior to joining OTKRITIE Financial Corporation Ltd. Mr. Gilev was Advisor to General Director of OJSC NPO High Precision Complexes.
