OREANDA-NEWS. On 09 June 2009 was announced, that in 2008, PAVA specialists decided to conduct gradual transition to a fundamentally new practice of no-till farming. It allows to resist soil erosion, retain moisture and reduce crop production costs.

The switch to no-till requires certain preparation of the soil, such as accumulation of stubble remains. “Today the mulch is being kept in the fields, the harvesters in the Altay and Krasnoyarsk Territories are equipped with choppers. We have already bought seeders for the no-till technology, however we do not envisage it as an all-round immediate measure, we look more to a step-by-step testing of this method”, says Andrey Ananin, PAVA Director General.

According to the specialists’ estimates, the no-till technology allows to reduce seasonal fuel expenditure to 35 litres per ha against 100-150 litres when traditional methods are applied, which is especially relevant because of constantly rising prices for fuel.

During the past two years PAVA has actively invested in the company’s land bank, expanding the acreage and planted area. The fields are cultivated with machinery from leading Western manufacturers, using elite seed material.
