OREANDA-NEWS. On 09 June 2009 was announced, that in June 2010 the Republic of Karelia will celebrate the 90th anniversary of its formation. One of the major points of preparation for the anniversary became the International workshop conference Polyethnic Karelia.

Plenary session and discussion of many important issues of interethnic concord took place in the Legislative Assembly of the Republic of Karelia.

During the plenary session participants of the conference had an opportunity to get acquainted with experience of our republic, other regions of Russia and foreign countries in the sphere of civil consent development presented by the Minister of the Republic of Karelia on National Politics and Relations with Religious Associations Andrey Manin, social and cultural adaptation of migrants in Petrozavodsk delivered by acting mayor of Petrozavodsk city district Anatoly Buldakov. The First Deputy Minister of Labour and Employment of the Republic of Karelia Anatoly Moiseyev has told the audience about problems of external labour migration in the Republic of Karelia.

At the plenary session papers on the following subjects have been read: Karelian model of cross-border cooperation: condition, problems, prospects, Formation of favorable interethnic relations in youth environment, Cooperation between the society and authority in strengthening of stability and the civil concord in Karelia.

Work in groups of the conferences proceeded at several sites of the city. Constructive and fruitful dialogue on development of interethnic relations, sociall and cultural adaptation of migrants, prevention of human traffic, on ways of solution of problems of labour migration and realization of youth projects in the sphere of interethnic and international cooperation has sprang up in each group.

At the second plenary session heads of groups have presented results of work and have made a number of important offers and additions in the draft resolution of the conference.

The final document of the workshop conference included the following recommendations:

to continue coordination of efforts on development of uniform approaches in the sphere of legislative regulation of activity on involvement and use of foreign labour;

to develop the Basic directions of realization of regional state migratory policy in the field of social and cultural adaptation of migrants;

to develop recommendations on introduction of special courses on history, culture, languages of ethnic groups residing in the Russian Federation, and problems of migration within the scope of educational programs of general and vocational training.

Within the scope of the conference in Sortavala there has been held a seminar on the subject of the Role of Religious Organizations in Social and Cultural Adaptation of Migrants. It was the first experience of cooperation in this sphere between religious organizations, authorities and public associations.The society did not address to representatives of religious communities with the offer to solve problems of social and cultural adaptation of migrantsin common before.

Representatives of various religious communities of the republic have taken part in the seminar. Vice-Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of the republic Gennady Nechaev and hegumen Mefody, director of the orthodox cultural and educational center Light of Valaam welcomed the seminar participants.

Activity of religious organizations in the sphere of social and cultural adaptation of migrants today basically means rendering help to representatives of their religions coming for permanent residence or with a working visa to the republic.

Participants of the seminar have coincided in the opinion that by joint efforts of the authority, religious organizations and society as a whole problems of social and cultural adaptation of migrants will be solved successfully.
