OREANDA-NEWS. On 08 June 2009 was announced, that OMK-Uchastiye (United Metallurgical Company's Charitable Foundation for Support of Childhood, Motherhood and Fatherhood) and Yekaterina Liepa's company Stand 4 have organized the charitable action “Present Children with a Fairytale,” which took place at the Obraztsov State Academic Central Puppet Theater. More than 200 children from orphan homes from the Nizhni Novgorod, Tver, Vladimir, and other regions, patients of the Pediatric Oncology and Hematology Research Institute, as well as business people, workers of culture, and their family members attended the fairytale performance “Gulliver's Adventures” based on Jonathan Swift’s book and directed by Yekaterina Obraztsova.

The funds raised from the sale of tickets and children's paintings to the performance visitors, as well as private donations (2.1 million rubles) were used to provide medical treatment to seriously ill children patients at the Pediatric Oncology and Hematology Research Institute of the Blokhin Russian Oncological Research Center under the Russian Academy of Sciences.

“Today’s performance at the Obraztsov Central Puppet Theater was the third charitable action ‘Present Children with a Fairytale’ organized by the OMK-Uchastiye Foundation,” said Aleksandr Kastravets, the Director General of the Foundation. “The two previous events helped to raise about seven million rubles and save lives of dozens of children. OMK’s principled position is to help and bring joy to people who need our help. We are happy that our charitable events have become a good tradition.”

“Such actions enable us not only to help our children patients in terms of new instruments, equipment, and medicinal preparations, but also give them a very strong psychological support,” said Vladimir Polyakov, Chief Russian Pediatric Oncologist and Deputy Director of the Pediatric Oncology and Hematology Research Institute of the Blokhin RORC. “Today children had so much joy and positive emotions that it will help them better than a doze of any medication.”

The first two events, under the Charitable Family Evenings “Present Children with a Fairytale” organized by the OMK-Uchastiye Foundation, were held in 2008. On October 16, 2008, more than 450 children from 13 orphan homes attended a premiere of the musical "Beauty and the Beast" staged at the Moscow Youth Palace. The second event, a fairytale performance "New Year with Mary Poppins," took place at the Nikulin Moscow Circus on Tsvetnoy Boulevard on December 27, 2008, and was attended by about 800 children.
