OREANDA-NEWS. On 08 June 2009 MDM Bank announced that its shareholders elected Alexander Doumnov to the Bank’s Board of Directors at the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders. Mr. Doumnov, who will be one of MDM Bank’s three independent directors, has a strong background in audit and internal controls and will replace Sergey Shapiguzov on the MDM Bank Board of Directors. The AGM re-elected the remaining sitting members of the board.

Alexander also sits on the Board of Directors of Trans-Siberian Gold Plc, London, where he has been chairman since 2008, and is a member of the Board of Directors of Siberian Mining & Metals Alliance. From 1998 to 2007 he sat on the Board of Directors of Deloitte & Touche CIS (as deputy chairman from 2001).

Alexander served as a partner at Deloitte & Touche in Russia from 1998 to 2007, prior to which, from 1997 to 1998, he worked as chairman of the management board of East West Investment Bank. From 1994 to 1997, Alexander was Director and Managing Director at Deloitte & Touche CIS. From 1992 to 1994, he worked for The World Bank in Washington, DC as advisor to the executive director and the deputy executive director. Alexander’s more than 40-years of professional experience in finance and economics has also includes tenures at the State Bank of the USSR, Wozchod Handelsbank, the Moscow Financial Institute, and the Research Institute for Foreign Economic Relations of the USSR.

Alexander holds a degree in international monetary and credit relations (1968) and a PhD in Economics (1971) from the Moscow Financial Institute. He worked on secondment in the Christian Albrechts University, Institute for World Economy (1975-1976), and holds a certificate from the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program (1990).
