President of Turkmenistan Receives IDB President
OREANDA-NEWS. June 05, 2009. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Ahmad Mohammad Ali Al-Madani, President of Islamic Development Bank who had participated in the 34th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Islamic Development Bank in the Turkmen capital.
Greeting the Turkmen leader the guest expressed heartily gratitude to Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on behalf of the high-ranking officials and the heads of the delegations of the IDB member states for support and assistance in holding the unprecedentedly representative forum in the history of the Islamic Development Bank. Highly appreciating the high level of organisation of the IDB summit in Ashgabat Dr. Ahmad Mohammad Ali Al-Madani focused on the importance of the Turkmen leader’s personal participation in the ceremony of opening the forum, which had brought together the envoys form all the continents in the capital of Turkmenistan. The guest said that President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov’s bright opening remarks had become the guideline for the discussions of the IDB’s plans for future and offered new incentives to further intensify partnership between Turkmenistan and the Islamic Development Bank.
Thanking for the heartily words the President noted that hosting the summit of the large international financial organisation in Ashgabat evidenced successful and fruitful cooperation between Turkmenistan and the organisations of Muslim community, the need for the dialogue of friendship, mutual confidence and understanding in the modern world as the reliable foundation of global progress and wellbeing.
During the meting the IDB President informed Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov of the results of the forum in detail. The ministers of finance from 56 members countries of the Islamic Development Bank had participate in the summit. Dr. Ahmad Mohammad Ali Al-Madani said that the IDB summit in Ashgabat was of paramount importance for further concerting efforts of the partner countries in Asia, Africa, Europe and Latin America to implement effectively the potential of cooperation for the benefit of all peoples. In this regard the guest highly appreciated the role of Turkmenistan which consistently pursued the policy of peace and good neighbourliness that had won the country recognition and high prestige worldwide.
The IDB President said that the forum participants could see what impressive achievements the Turkmen people had gained advancing along the path of progressive reforms and changes, which had determined the fate of the country, its strong position on a world arena. Dr. Ahmad Mohammad Ali Al-Madani said that this fact had conditioned to a larger extent intense interest of the business circles of the IDB member countries in cooperation with Turkmenistan.
In this context the sides exchanged views on the prospects of further collaboration and specified its strategic fields. Thus, the IDB President said that the Islamic Development Bank stood ready to collaborate in the large-scale projects initiated by the Turkmen leader including creation of Avaza national tourism zone and construction of the North-South transnational railway corridor.
During the meeting Dr. Ahmad Mohammad Ali Al-Madani presented President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov the Address of the 34th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Islamic Development Bank who had expressed profound gratitude for heartfelt welcome in the Turkmen land.
In conclusion the Turkmen leader and his guest expressed belief that fruitful partnership would be further developed meeting the goals of global wellbeing and sustainable development.
