In January-April 2009 Moldova Reduced Export of Wine by 28%
OREANDA-NEWS On 03 June was announced, that export of Moldovan wines and brandies to CIS countries decreased by 31% - up to USD 38 million, to EU states-by 18% - up to USD 6, 5 million, to other countries – by 30% - up to USD 0.5 million. For the first time the largest importer of Moldovan wine-cognac products was Belarus, which in January-April 2009, has purchased winemaking goods for USD 16 million, or 8% more than at the same period of 2008. Over the same period, Russia-the former biggest importer of Moldovan wines and cognacs, reduced its purchases by 25% - up to USD 14 million. To date, the largest importer of Moldovan wine products were only Russia and Ukraine. Ukraine ranks the first on the volume of alcohol purchases of Moldavian goods after the ban imposed by Russia in 2006. According to Moldova-Vin", among the EU states the largest importer of Moldovan wine products in were Poland and Romania, which purchased goods for USD 2.8 million and USD 1.04 million, respectively. The significant increase in deliveries of Moldovan wine products in the first four months of the year were registered to: Japan (7 times), Slovakia (+91%), Kazakhstan (+62%), Germany (+51%), Georgia (+49 %), United Kingdom (+46%), United States (+46%), Belgium (+42%), Kyrgyzstan (+31%) and Israel (+30%)
