Belarus Makes Great Progress in Intensifying Agricultural Production
OREANDA-NEWS. June 03, 2009. For the past four years Belarus has made great progress in intensifying agricultural production, Vice-Premier of Belarus Ivan Bambiza said when opening the Belarusian Agribusiness Week.
The high results in agriculture have been achieved due to high technologies. “We are staring to use the systems of agricultural machines, be it grain, potato or other production,” he said. “We are close to harvesting 10 million tonnes of grain. We easily get the beet harvest of 4 million tonnes. We are ready to gather around 1 million tonnes of corn and 1 million tonnes of rapeseeds,” Ivan Bambiza said.
In 2009, Belarus plans to launch grain exports, Vice-Premier of Belarus Ivan Bambiza told reporters at the opening of the Belarusian Agribusiness Week.
“It is time to export grain. We announced the grain export programme two years ago and in 2009 we will begin to implement it starting with spiked cereals exports.”
The Vice-Premier added that Belarus plans, first of all, to export rye used for baking.
Partaking in the Belarusian Agribusiness Week that is held on June 2-5 are over 600 exhibitors from Belarus, Austria, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Italy, Spain, China, Lithuania, Latvia, the Netherlands and others.
The fifth Food Industry international exhibition, the 12th Packaging and Label international exhibition, the fourth Microclimate and Frost international exhibition will be held in the Football Indoor Centre. Belagro, the 19th international exhibition, will be located at the Belexpo National Exhibition Centre and in the Gastellovskoye agricultural company.
An exposition of the domestic and foreign agricultural engineering industry, plant cultivation and cattle breeding are exhibited at the Gastellovskoye agricultural company. Expositions of the agricultural engineering industry are organised by the Industry and Agriculture and Food Ministries, the NAS Scientific and Practical Centre for Agriculture Mechanization, leading companies of Russia, Germany, Lithuania and Poland.
