OREANDA-NEWS. On 03 June 2009 was announced, that the final round of the Sixth All-Ukrainian Student Olympics for the prize of UniCredit Group, initiated by the Ukrsotsbank took place in Kyiv. The main idea of the event is to help talented students in identifying and developing their talents, creating favorable conditions for the professional realization.

This year 946 students from more than sixty universities in Ukraine participated in the Olympics. The best 15 students who demonstrated the best scores of knowledge of the banking business in the first round of the Olympics reached the final round.

Winners of the Olympics are Maryna Hirenko from Kyiv Trade and Economic University, Anna Luchaninova from the Ukrainian Academy of Banking of National Bank of Ukraine (Sumy) and Oleksiy Tuhaiev from Odesa State Economic University.

All finalists were awarded with gold bullions, payment cards of Ukrsotsbank and certificates of winners of the first round. Winners of the final competition also got money prizes: I place — UAH 6000, II place — UAH 4000, III place — UAH 2000.

The jury consisted of Ukrsotsbank CFO, Harald Vertneg (jury chairman), the Head of HR Department, Marco Berini, the Head of UniCredit Bank HR Department, Anna Kuznetsova, the Head of Treasury and Institutional Division of Ukrsotsbank, Serhiy Manokha, Head of Odesa Oblast Affiliate of Ukrsotsbank, Ihor Klymenko and other top managers of Ukrsotsbank.

Participants of the final round had to submit to the jury a report on the Bank’s work in crisis conditions, try themselves in the role of customer service manager and to participate in conditional bank loan committee.

Their performances have exceeded my expectations. — said the jury chairman, Harald Vertneg. — The purpose of this event — to attract the most professional people of the country to work in our Group as a whole and in Ukrsotsbank in particular. Olympics held by Ukrsotsbank for the sixth time meets the strategy of UniCredit Group — to ensure sustainable development in the highly competitive conditions of banking services market. I hope all students finalists will take the opportunity to work in Ukrsotsbank. It helps our employees to better understand the specifics of the international banking business", — told the Head of HR Department, Marco Berini.

Certainly, the main winner of the Olympics, Maryna Hirenko, is the one satisfied with the participation in the competition at most: "Today I received a unique experience. All tasks of the Olympics were purely aimed at solving practical problems. Now students who learn banking business have little practical experience because education in the higher education institutions aimed at theory".
