FAS RF Head Met with Minister-Counselor of Britain Embassy in Moscow
OREANDA-NEWS On 02 June was announced, that Head of the FAS Russia Met with Minister-Counselor of Great Britain Embassy in Moscow.
At the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia, there was a meeting between Mr. Igor Artemyev and Ms. Caroline Wilson, Minister-Counselor (Economic and Trade & Investment) of the Great Britain Embassy in Moscow.
The Head of the FAS Russia informed Ms. Caroline Wilson on the latest results achieved by the Service in the sphere of improvement of competition legislation and enforcement including achievements in the sphere of natural monopolies in electric power energy, railway transport and telecommunications.
'Nowadays, taking into account that a priority task for the FAS Russia is to combat cartel collusions and that fact that the UK Office of Fair Trading has a great experience in cartel investigations and application of the Leniency Program, the interaction with British colleagues has became very timely and useful', highlighted Mr. Artemyev.
Mr. Artemyev also stressed that the FAS Russia was interested in the UK Office of Fair Trading's practice and major methods of cartel detection used by the agency and by learning that practice, the FAS Russia would be able to apply the best practices in its anti-cartel activity.
With regard to implementation of the Federal Law "Procedures for Foreign Investments in the Business Entities of Strategic Importance for Russian National Defense and State Security", Mr. Artemyev informed the audience about amendments prepared by the FAS Russia.
'These amendments are designed for concretization of provisions of the law defining a subject composition of the relationships regulated and exclude uncertainties in harmony and application of particular norms of the law,' underlined the Head of the FAS Russia.
In turn, Ms. Caroline Wilson said that the Russian authority and the British authority had many common areas to work together. She also added that recently the FAS Russia's role had been sufficiently increased and the Service activity had become much more important for the development of Russian economy.
Summarizing the meeting, the Parties expressed their willingness to further mutual cooperation and agreed to continue effective interaction by further negotiations and exchange of necessary information.
