OREANDA-NEWS. On 02 June 2009 was announced, that five million square metres of parking facilities will be developed in Moscow during 2009, mayor of the city Yuri Luzhkov said.

According to the official, only the program called Public Garage provides for building 86 garage complexes in Moscow this year, 25 objects among them are currently under construction. The mayor added that those parking facilities would be standardized and located within reasonable walking distance.

Earlier Mr Luzhkov said that Public Garage program would be implemented not obtaining Moscow’s budget funds. City Hall will allocate sites for garages and finance the designing of the parking facilities. “These will be the standard garages with the height of up to 4 storeys. The cost of a parking space in such facilities is expected to be USD 10,000-USD 12,000,” the mayor of Moscow specified.
