OREANDA-NEWS. June 02, 2009. In May, Ukraina channel moved to the second place in the national TV channels ranking with 9.7% share.

The channel demonstrated an unseen growth in the audience share by 90% year on year. Thus, Ukraina proved that it is the most dynamic channel among six TV channels-leaders. In January-to-May 2009, the share was 8.22% - 54.8% higher year on year.

Waldemar Dziki, General Director of TRK Ukraina Broadcasting Company: "Our performance shows that we managed to build a strong set of programs. They include good first-run films and own programs, which can gather the whole family in front of a TV set. Our goal today is to reinforce our leadership and develop the range of own programs".

SOBYTIYA NEDYELI (NEWS OF THE WEEK) broadcast on 10 May was the top program of the month with the record rating of 5.50% and the share of 17.30%. Overall, the average share of Sobytiya (News) and Sobytiya Nedyeli in May was 11.97%, which doubles the average share of the program in May 2008 (+113%). The interest of the TV audience to other original programs has gone up too. Kriticheskaya Tochka (A Critical Point) saw an 49% increase in its audience and Futbolniy Weekend (Football Weekend) showed a 30% growth in its audience year on year. Compared to April 2009 SHUSTER Live talk-show increased the viewing share by 20% and Zhiznennye Sensatsii (Real-life sensations) - by 14%.[1].

The viewers were much interested in concert broadcasts. The celebration concert dedicated to FC Shakhtar UEFA victory and titled "A Star Called Shakhtar" enjoyed the biggest success (shr=15.24%, rat=4.55%). In addition, the anniversary concert of the Russian composer Illya Reznik and Pesni Vesny i Pobedy concert (Songs of Spring and Victory) devoted to the 64th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War produced excellent viewing (shr=13.94%, rat=4.64%) and (shr=9.11%, rat=1.86%) respectively.

The slot of men series on weekdays at 20.20: Katya (shr=9.67%) and Zveroboy (shr=10.57%) also delivered high results.

Football broadcasts, in particular, the Champions League finals between Chelsea (England) and Barcelona (Spain) (shr=12.98%, rat=4.38%) as well as the Ukrainian Cup final between Vorskla (Poltava) and Shakhtar (Donetsk) (shr=16.3%, rat=3.95%) remained highly demanded.
