OREANDA-NEWS. May 29, 2009. Azovstal Steel Plant, a part of Metinvest Group, is a major contributor to the city budget, reported the press-centre of Azovstal.

Meeting its tax obligations, the plant remitted UAH 146.7m in Q1 2009 to budgets at all levels including UAH 35.1m allocated to the local budget and UAH 53.2m transferred to the pension fund.

Azovstal works in full compliance with the current law and is an exemplary taxpayer. The essential factor of tax payments is the stable operation of the plant aimed at building transparent and partnership relations, meeting tax obligations in full and on time as well as developing the city economy.

"Mariupol appreciates the contribution of Azovstal to the city performance. I mean, first of all, to the budget. The specific share of Azovstal in city payroll fund in Q1 2009 totalled 6%", says the city mayor Yuriy Khotlubey.
