OREANDA-NEWS. On 28 May 2009 was announced, that building of atomic submarine “Severodvinsk” was discussed at “Sevmash”.

The meeting took place at the enterprise. Director General of "Sevmash" N. Kalistratov, Deputy Navy Commander-in-Chief vice-admiral N. Borisov, Head of Sate Defense Order of “United Shipbuilding Corporation” A. Shlemov, Director General of Design Bureau “Malakhit” V. Pyalov, representatives of cooperation enterprises took part in this meeting.

Building of multipurpose atomic submarines of the fourth generation as well as strategic submarine rocket carriers is a priority direction for the enterprise. In present time, a head atomic submarine of 885 project is finishing the construction period in the building berth. As vice-admiral O. Burtzev informs, atomic submarine “Severodvinsk” with cruise missiles of increased range is to be included in the Navy in 2011.

This will be a special holiday for citizens of Severоdvinsk – the ship named after our native town will appear in the Navy for the first time.
