OREANDA-NEWS. May 26, 2009. In Minsk at the 50th anniversary meeting of Railway Transport Cooperation Council Ugis Magonis, Chairman of the Board of SJSC Latvijas dzelzcels (LDz) received a Certificate of Recognition for considerable contribution in coordination work at interstate level in rail transport, reported the press-centre of Latvijas dzelzcels.

Certificates of Recognition for elaboration of harmonized work principles in transport sector, strengthening of cooperation and organization of effective activity in international traffic were given also to Stepan Shkapich, Minister of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Belarus, Derjakuli Muhamedkulijev, Transport Minister of Turkmenistan, Michail Kostjuk, General Director of State Administration of Railway Transport of Ukraine, as well as to other important officials from railway sector.

At the anniversary meeting of Railway Transport Council there were reviewed issues regarding train traffic schedules, changes in determination of responsibility for damages to freight wagons, mutual payments, as well as there were given certificates of recognition for contribution in development of cooperation between railway organizations.

Railway Transport Council comprises railway companies from former CIS countries and East European countries; it is considered one of the most important and influential cooperation organizations for Latvijas dzelzcels.

The main activity of State Joint Stock Company Latvijas dzelzcels is the management of railway infrastructure in Latvia. LDz is a holding company in concern Latvijas dzelzcels, which comprises four subsidiary companies – LDz Cargo, LDz apsardze, LDz infrastruktura and LDz ritosa sastava serviss.
