OREANDA-NEWS. May 28, 2009. JSC Electrometallurgical Works Dneprospetsstal named after A.N.Kuzmin have commissioned a surface finishing line for rolled stock 120/280. Municipal authorities, representatives of banking sector and main consumers have taken part in the opening ceremony, reported the press-centre of Dneprospetsstal.

The line has been installed in a surface processing area of the rolling shop. The project investments are EURO 2.2 million. Rated capacity of the equipment is 21 thousand tons per year.

Vitaly Kornievsky, acting Chairman of the Board, has pointed out, ‘Today, in the market only that producer can survive who concerns about cost reducing and quality enhancing. Further company development is unthinkable without equipment updating and production technology investments.’

The project’s key target is quality enhancing for surface finishing, first of all, for stainless tubular billets. New equipment will bring metal quality in line with the requirements of consumers worldwide and allow product range widening and new market entering. Also it will permit to develop long-term relations with the Centravis company (Nikolayev, Ukraine), the Ukrainian producer of seamless stainless tubes. This year the company puts into operation a new line for stainless tube pressing and toughen the requirements for Dneprospetsstal’s tubular billets.

The finishing line is designed by Loeser GmbH especially for the enterprise. Customary, such equipment is intended for processing of lightweight bars. The distinction of the Dneprospetsstal’s line is maximal rated billet weight of 2.6 tons. Through teamwork of the metallurgic works’ specialists and Loeser GmbH representatives the equipment installation has only been accomplished for 2 weeks that is very short term. Also during this time Dneprospetsstal workers have served German specialists’ apprenticeship. 15 specialists currently working at the enterprise will service the new equipment.
