Court Dismissed Appeal of Rosneft-Stavropolye on FAS Decision
OREANDA-NEWS. May 26, 2009. The 16th Arbitration Appeal Court dismissed the appeal of "Rosneft'-Stavropolye" Oil Company" OJSC against the decision and determinations issued by Office of the Federal Antimonopoly Service in the Stavropol' region (OFAS Russia), which had requested to stop the antimonopoly violations, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.
On 14th August 2008, the Stavropol' OFAS Russia processed the case against oil companies operating in the Stavropol' region: "Lukoil-Yugnefteproduct" Ltd., "Rosneft'-Stavropolye" Oil Company" OJSC, "Stavneft" Ltd., "Bashoil-KMV", "PKP Srtavropol'complekt" Ltd. - for violating Article 11 of the Federal Law "On Protection of Competition".
The oil companies violated the law by engaging in concerting actions on the retail market of diesel fuel, with the aim of increasing and further maintaining their prices. From May 2008 the companies carried out concerted policy towards increasing prices for diesel fuels and the prices for diesel exceeded the prices for high-octane АI-95.
Having investigated the case, the OFAS Russia found that the oil companies violated the antimonopoly legislation and issued determinations to stop concerted actions aimed at economically unjustified growth of prices for diesel fuel in comparison with high-octane petrol Аi-95. Also "Rosneft'-Stavropolye" Oil Company" OJSC was fined 15,463,500 Rubles.
