OREANDA-NEWS. May 25, 2009. In first quarter of 2009, profit of the Moldavian insurance companies amounted to 23 million 925 thousand leis (US 2,13 million), or 50,77% less than at the same period of the last year.
 
According to the National Commission for Financial Market, in the first quarter of 2009, consolidated assets of the insurance companies of Moldova amounted to 1.36 billion leis (US 121 million), or 23.46% increase over the same period last year.

In the first quarter of 2009, the net assets of the insurance companies amounted to 658.66 million leis, or 59% more than in I quarter of 2008; paid charter capital - 331.53 million lei (+ 55.47%), the insurance reserves and the funds - 444.57 million leis (+ 7.36%).

According to the rating of the Standard & Poor's and AM Best agency, the stagnation in the development of the non life sector will be registered.

The rating of S & P's agency warns that, although the situation at the capital markets has improved in comparison with the period of economic crisis, the capitalization of European insurance industry has declined by 50% as compared with 1 January 2008.
