Moldova Decreased Output of Wine by 77,4%
OREANDA-NEWS. May 21, 2009. In I quarter of 2009, Moldova has produced 47,9 thousand dal. of wine, decreasing the output by 77,4% as compared to the same period of 2008.
As "InfoMarket" agency was informed in the National Bureau of Statistics, in January-March 2009, Moldova had also reduced the production of the natural wine by 41.2% - up to 1 million 531.8 thousand dal. as well as sparkling wine (champagne) by 61,7% - up to 33,8 thousand dal. As it was informed before, in I quarter of 2009, the cost of production of wine in Moldova has decreased by 35,1% - up to 264.9 million leis.
During the first three months of 2009, the production of distilled alcohol beverages in Moldova, in cash fell by 53.5% - up to 55.5 million leis.
The reduction in alcohol beverages production is explained by the reducing demand at the foreign markets due to the global financial crisis. It should be noted that in 2008 the production of wine in Moldova has increased by 26% - up to 2 billion 163.3 million leis, while the production of distilled alcoholic beverages increased by 6.2% - up to 490.5 million leis, respectively.
