Russian Nuclear Fuel Improves Efficiency of Czech and Slovakian NPPs
OREANDA-NEWS. May 20, 2009. The efficiency and the safety of the Russian nuclear fuel was the key topic of the seminar “Experience of Fabrication and Operation and Prospects of Improvement of Fuel and Fuel Cycles for NPPs with WWER-Type Reactors” held by Russian, Czech and Slovakian specialists in Liberec (the Czech Republic).
The parties pointed out that the fuel supplied to the NPPs with WWER-440 reactors in the Czech Republic (Dukovany) and Slovakia (Mochovce and Bohunice) had enabled those plants to switch to a five-year fuel cycle, to raise the capacity of their reactors and to operate them under reduced network loading regimes.
As was earlier reported, TVEL has won the right to supply fuel to Temelin NPP (the Czech Republic) starting from 2010.
