OREANDA-NEWS. May 19, 2009. The International Peace March timed to the 65th anniversary of Belarus’ liberation from the Nazi invaders will start in Gomel on May 19.

Taking part in the march will be veterans of the Great Patriotic War, activists of the International Peace Fund from the Gomel, Kursk and Smolensk oblasts of the Russian Federation, representatives of the Gomel town organization of the Belarus National Union of Youth.

The three-day peace march will be held through the Loev, Kalinkovichi, Oktyabrsky, Svetlogorsk and Zhlobin regions of the Gomel oblast.

The programme of the march includes meetings and roundtables with residents of those regions, students, labour collectives, veterans of the Great Patriotic War, representatives of the local authorities.

The International Peace March has been organized by the Gomel office of the Belarusian Peace Fund.
