OREANDA-NEWS. On 19 May 2009 was announced, that the business forum “Modern technologies of Siemens for Turkmenistan” held in Ashgabad has been closed by signing of the protocol on strategic cooperation between the Government of Turkmenistan and Siemens AG company. The managers of the German company and the representatives of the leading ministries and departments of Turkmenistan, as well as the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of the country took part in the conference.

The Siemens representatives confirmed their readiness to take active part in projects implemented in Turkmenistan for the development and modernization of the oil and gas sector and power engineering sectors, including the supply of equipment for wind and solar power plants, health, communications, industry, transport infrastructure. The German partners presented their proposals for each of these areas, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH) reports.

In accordance with the signed protocol, ad hoc working groups to develop specific partnership projects will be formed.

Siemens has been working in Turkmenistan since 1997 and implemented a number of major projects to equip health centers in Ashgabat and regions. It also participated in projects in the field of telecommunications and the fuel and energy complex.
