The General Director of life:) Tansu Yegen has commented: “The first quarter of 2009 has been very challenging for the economy of Ukraine whilst the worsening macroeconomic situation has seriously affected the business.
The national currency depreciated by around 52% against USD as of March 31, 2009 compared to a year ago although remained stable compared to the previous quarter. Still the negotiations with IMF have gone in the right direction and the recently announced news on the second tranche of the IMF loan to Ukraine allows us to assume that new opportunities may arise for the country. In this respect business in Ukraine may hope for the enhancing stability and minimization of the affects of the turmoil”.
