OREANDA-NEWS. On May 18, 2009 JSC Aeroflot Russian Airlines and MIAT – Mongolian Airlines have signed a code sharing agreement for the Moscow – Ulan Bator – Moscow line. The agreement was signed by Aeroflot CEO Vitaly Savelyev and MIAT president Bat-Erdene within the frames of the Russian Vice President Vladimir Putin’s visit to Mongolia, reported the press-centre of Aeroflot.

Aeroflot will operate code sharing flights on the Moscow – Ulan Bator – Moscow line on B767 and A320 airliners, with flight frequency increased from 3 to 5 a week. At the moment MIAT has suspended operation of this line.

Aeroflot and MIAT cooperation is based on the agreement between the Russian Federation and Mongolian People’s Republic on air traffic as of September 08 1997, memorandums between the aviation authorities of the two countries, and the bilateral interline agreement.

In 2007, the Moscow – Ulan Bator line carried over 36,000 passengers, and in 2008, about 35,000; in the last year, average line load was 65%. The office in Mongolia (Ulan Bator) opened in 1964.

Today, Aeroflot has code sharing agreements with foreign and Russian carriers. In the closest time, Aeroflot is planning to build on its code sharing cooperation with SkyTeam members, extending certain destinations beyond partners’ hubs. This will enable the company to expand its destination map and offer new opportunities to its passengers.

Aeroflot’s membership in the SkyTeam global alliance provides the company’s passengers with an access to the worldwide network covering 905 destinations in 162 countries. Convenient interlining and joint bonus programs for Aeroflot’s frequent flyers are available for all the flights of SkyTeam members.
