Ukio Bankas Started Series of Events to Mark Its 20th Birthday
OREANDA-NEWS. On May 13, 2009 Ukio bankas started a series of events to mark its 20th birthday by planting small oaks in Kaunas Oak Grove, reported the press-centre of Ukio bankas.
Today at noon, Ukio bankas management and Kaunas City mayor Andrius Kupcinskas planted twenty small oaks in Kaunas Oak Grove. Lithuania’s first and oldest commercial bank organized this oak planting campaign by devoting one tree to each of the 20 years of its history. Ukio bankas major shareholder Vladimiras Romanovas planted the twenty first oak thus demonstrating the continuation of the Bank’s history.
“The last twenty years are years of the Bank's growth, strengthening, increasing stability, surmounted difficulties and victories. In our opinion the oak can symbolize them best as it is the strongest and the most enduring tree of Lithuania,” said Gintaras Ugianskis, chairman of Ukio bankas Board.
Thus, from this time forward, when walking around the Oak Grove, Kaunas residents will also be able to admire young oaks, vigorously striving upward, that will remind them of the history of reborn Lithuanian banking.
