Gazprom Discussed Chemical Capacities Development in Eastern Russia
OREANDA-NEWS. May 15, 2009. The Management Committee considered the issue with regard to the comprehensive development of gas processing and gas chemical capacities in Eastern Siberia and the Far East.
Taking into account the ongoing actions aimed at the Eastern Gas Program execution, Gazprom specialized subdivision were charged to prepare a Comprehensive Plan of Actions to synchronize development of gas production, transportation, processing and chemical capacities in Eastern Siberia and the Far East.
The issue of gas processing and gas chemical capacities development in Eastern Siberia and the Far East will be submitted to Gazprom Board of Directors for consideration.
Background:
The September 3, 2007 Order by the Russian Federation Industry and Energy Ministry approved the Development Program for an integrated gas production, transportation and supply system in Eastern Siberia and the Far East, taking into account potential gas exports to China and other Asia-Pacific countries (Eastern Gas Program). Gazprom was identified by the Russian Government as the Program execution coordinator.
In March 2008 Gazprom Board of Directors approved the Development Strategy for Gazprom gas chemical and gas processing facilities.
As part of the Eastern Gas Program execution Gazprom is elaborating, with due regard of the said Strategy, concept proposals aimed at creating processing capacities in Eastern Siberia and the Far East.
In particular, the Company is looking at the possibility to construct the following capacities:
a gas processing plant (GPP) and a gas chemical complex (GCC) in the Krasnoyarsk Krai based on the Sobinsko-Payginskoye oil and gas condensate field;
GPP and GCC in the Irkutsk Oblast based on the Chikanskoye gas and condensate field;
GPP and GCC in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), LNG plant and GCC in the Primorsk Krai based on the Chayanda oil and gas condensate field;
GPP in the Khabarovsk Krai designed for processing a part of natural gas to be produced within future projects on Sakhalin offshore development.
