Moldovan Exports to EU Decreased by 14,3% in 1Q
OREANDA-NEWS. May 13, 2009. In I quarter of 2009, Moldovan exports to EU amounted to US 154.2 million, decreasing by 14.3% as compared with January-March 2008.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics, EU countries export accounted for 55.1% of the total exports in January-March 2009.
At the same time, imports from EU amounted to US 301.6 million, or 34.8% less than in January -March 2008 or 38.6% of the total imports (January-March 2008 - 44.2%). In 2008, trade deficit with EU grew by 28.31% and amounted to US 147.4 million (January-March 2008 - US 282.9 million).
The main export partners of Moldova in EU are: Romania (US 57.3 million or 20.5% of the total exports), Italy (US 29.3 million, 11.4%), Germany (US 16.2 million, 10.5%), United Kingdom (US 11.9 million, 4.3%), Poland (US 9 million, 3.2%).
The main import partners of Moldova are: Romania (US 54.1 million, 6.9%), Germany (US 50 million, 6.4%), France (US 42.4 million, 5.4%), Italy (US 39.8 million, 5.1%), Poland (US 15.8 million, 2%) and Austria (US 14.2 million; 1,8%).
