OREANDA-NEWS. May 13, 2009. Mr. Nyberg said he eye-witnessed rapid development in Azerbaijan since his visit here last year. He noted large-scale construction activities were underway in the country despite the world`s financial crisis.

President Ilham Aliyev said the crisis did not have a serious impact on Azerbaijan`s economy, adding economic development processes had been continuing in the country.

The Head of State said the Gross Domestic Product in Azerbaijan`s non-oil sector grew 14 percent, adding the figure will increase in future.

President Ilham Aliyev also touched upon achievements in the information and communications technologies sector, saying developing the ICT sector is one of the key priorities for Azerbaijan.
