OREANDA-NEWS. On 13 May 2009 was announced, that Ukraine International Airlines had received a Certificate from the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine giving it the right to establish its own Training Centre. The centre will provide training for pilots, cabin crew members and flight dispatchers. The Certificate confirms that UIA’s Training Centre ‘complies in all respects with Ukrainian National FTO/TRTO Certification Regulations and is empowered to operate and approved as Type Rating Training Organization’.

Along with aircraft Boeing 737 -300/400/500 operations, initial theoretical and practical training courses, the educational programme includes crew aviation security training with further certification according to international standards. Besides, UIA Training Centre students will intensively study English, which is a burning issue because of increasing ICAO language proficiency requirements for crew members (Resolution A36/11 of the 36th Session of the ICAO Assembly).

UIA is implementing a special programme of pilots recruitment and training up to 2015. The programme was developed to meet the demand of the airline’s fleet modernisation, including the new generation Boeing 737-800 aircraft operation training course for flying crew members. These aircraft will add to UIA’s fleet later on this year.

The thirty most experienced pilots and instructors of Ukraine International Airlines will be the first to attend the new training course and will be able to operate both classic Boeing 737 and Ukraine’s first new generation Boeing 737-800. After that, these instructors will train their colleagues.

Nowadays, 140 pilots are working for the Airline. During 2009, UIA is planning to increase its flight personnel. For now, 30 more specialists are at different stages of professional training. UIA experts chose the fourteen best students from the Kirovograd Flight Academy and developed a special Boeing 737 aircraft operating training programme for them.

“I am convinced that the main competitive advantage of our Airline is quality, - said Vladimir Gaidamaka, UIA Senior pilot-instructor. – Having our own Training Centre will allow us to provide the highest level of pilots training. We have all that is required: a maintenance base, training programmes, highly-qualified personnel. Besides, the training process will be running under UIA’s strict control, which will ensure the highest quality and aviation security level”.

Besides theoretical courses in the Training Centre, UIA’s training programme includes compulsory training in flight simulators at the Boeing Alteon Centre and Oxford Aviation Academy in London.
