Volume of Remittances through Unistream Decreased by 30-40% in 1Q
OREANDA-NEWS. May 12, 2009. This was announced by the Director of "Unistream" Suren Airiyan, noting that Moldova is one of the main sources of labor migration in CIS.
The reduction of remittances is due to the global financial crisis, which affected all sectors of the economy and most of all construction, trade and services - sectors with the highest concentration of migrant workers. In addition, the situation was also affected by devaluation of ruble, which, starting from September has fallen by almost 40-45%.
Suren Airiyan did not predict the dynamics of remittances for the long-term period noting only that in 2009 the company is prepared to reduce the major market indicators to the level of 2007. According to his words, quantitative indicators and volume of the market could reach level of 2007 but qualitative trends will remain unchanged.
He noted that players have accumulated sufficient capacity and high rates of development, built a solid foundation for the large projects and will continue to develop them. They have no other choice, because the competition is growing. The major players will have to improve and enhance the quality of services and products, offer new tariff plans and conduct more targeted policies and promo-campaigns.
