Aeroflot and Government of St.Petersburg Signed New Agreement
OREANDA-NEWS. May 11, 2009. JSC “Aeroflot Russian Airlines” and the government of Saint Petersburg have signed a beneficiary agreement to support the residents of Saint Petersburg, namely the veterans of 1941-1945 Great Patriotic War and the victims of the siege of Leningrad, reported the press-centre of Aeroflot.
Within the terms of this Agreement Aeroflot grants no less than a thousand free tickets to the veterans, disabled veterans of 1941-1945 Great Patriotic War, under-aged prisoners of concentration camps and the victims of the siege of Leningrad. The regular flight tickets will be issued during the period from May 04, 2009 to May 28, 2009 to the destinations of the Russian Federation, Europe, the CIS, and Baltic countries.
The collaboration between Aeroflot and the government of Saint Petersburg is a long-standing tradition. The agreement on collaboration signed between Aeroflot and the government of Saint Petersburg is effective during the recent years and provides for the development of air service and tourism in Saint Petersburg, it also supports international, business, cultural, etc. connections.
Within the framework on this agreement Aeroflot flies around seriously ill children to the medical centres abroad on a free-pass basis, participates in the carriage of Saint Petersburg’s official, cultural, etc. delegations. Aeroflot funded the works on restoration of Mikhail Kutuzov’s monument thus making a tribute to the 300th anniversary of Saint Petersburg, and provides for the annual preventive repair of the monument. Aeroflot is a participant of a beneficiary club Tsarskoye Selo Friends.
Aeroflot’s affiliate located in Saint Petersburg has its own maintenance service line, A320 pilots, and cabin crew department to support Saint Petersburg-Moscow line. In 2008 Aeroflot carried 487 540 passengers over Saint Petersburg-Moscow line, thus increasing the previous year figures by 21 per cent.
