OREANDA-NEWS. May 13, 2009. According to NBM, the official exchange rate has decreased from 10.6625 leis for US1 in early March up to 10.9602 leis for US 1 at the end of the month.

The official average monthly rate of leu against euro decreased from 13.5215 leis for 1 euro in February up to 14.1208 leis for 1 euro in March. Early this month, the official rate of leu against euro amounted to 13.6257 leis for 1 euro and 14.4323 leis for 1 euro at the end of the month.

The official average monthly rate of leu against Russian ruble declined from 0.2953 leis for 1 ruble in February up to 0.3125 leis for 1 ruble in March 2009.

In early March, the official rate of leu against Russian ruble made 0.2992 leis per 1 ruble and at the end of the month - 0.3217 leis per 1 ruble, respectively. As of late March 2009, the exchange rate of leu against dollar in nominal terms has declined by 5.2% and in real terms – by 7.46%, respectively.

The total volume of transactions with dollar at the inter-bank market in March 2009 made US 479.65 million, increasing by \\\\$ 169.65 million as compared to the previous month (February - US 310 million). In March 2009, the volume of bank transactions at the inter-bank market amounted to US 230.8 million, increasing by US 85.2 million as compared with February.
