OREANDA-NEWS. May 11, 2009. The system of organization of the wine market and traceability of products corresponding to EU standards will be introduced in Moldova. Such decision was made at the meeting of the government, approving technical regulations of the same name.

As the deputy director of the Agro-Industrial Agency "Moldova-Vin" Nikolai Taran has informed, the introduction of this system would bring the national legislation in correspondence with the EU standards.

The technical regulation establishes requirements to wines, raw materials, equipment and technological processes, packaging and labeling of wine production and process of quality assessment. In addition, specific requirements for market supervision and traceability of wine production are established.

As Nikolai Taran noted, system of organization of the wine market and products’ traceability regulates the entire production process from growing grapes till certification and sales of the finished goods.

The introduction of European practices in the field of winemaking in Moldova will improve quality of the wine products and increase their export to EU countries as well as will exclude additional conformity assessment procedures of the products.

The deputy director of the Agro-Industrial Agency "Moldova-Vin" said that Moldova is the first from CIS countries to adopt legislation in the field of viticulture and winemaking according to EU requirements.
