OREANDA-NEWS. On 08 May 2009 was announced, that on 2a Saburova Str. METRO Cash & Carry Ukraine opened its fourth store in Kyiv bringing almost UAH 300 Mio.   (? 27 Mio.) of direct investment into the local economy and creating almost 400 new jobs for Kyiv citizens.

Together with three already operating stores in Kyiv the company’s total investment into the capital exceeds UAH 680 Mio. (? 86 Mio.). METRO Cash & Carry created 1800 new and stable jobs in all four stores as well as the Head office in Kyiv.

Mr. Blyznyuk, Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Mrs. Kilchytska, First Deputy Kyiv Mayor, Dr. Christian Mielsch, Chief Operating Officer Central & East of METRO Cash & Carry and Axel Hluchy, Managing Director of METRO Cash & Carry Ukraine, cut the symbolic ribbon opening the 24th METRO Cash & Carry store in Ukraine.

Having started the construction on November 11, 2008 the general contractor Solstroy together with 11 local construction and design companies constructed the store with total area of 16.000 sq. m. and 400 parking slots.

Located on the 4.45 hectares land plot on the sales area of 10.500 sq. m. the new METRO Cash & Carry offers an assortment of 29.000 food and nonfood products. Over 90% of all products are sourced from over 1 300 Ukrainian producers, distributors and importers.

“Successful operations of our three already operating stores in Kyiv show that our wholesale concept is well appreciated by our professional customers”, said Axel Hluchy, Managing Director of MCC Ukraine. “Hence, despite the turbulent times we continue our development in Ukraine opening one more wholesale store in the capital. The new METRO Cash & Carry store offers its customers Traders Show Room, which is unique for Ukraine. Equipped as a regular food store, on the area of 60 sq. m. METRO Cash & Carry professionals will assist and consult the company’s customers – traders on how to operate successfully their stores from optimizing the sales area to organizing a well-done promotion campaign.
